Kaye Solomon was born 8,351 miles from where I’m writing this. In the American dream that is spread amongst immigrants, lies the promise of a brand-new array of opportunity. I lived in a small town in the Philippines, quiet and neighborly, surrounded by the mountains and farm life. I still feel that I am that same girl who loved walks with her golden hearted dog Gold-bee, as well as quality time with her beloved grandparents, yet swam without worry. Pining for a different life, yet now thousands of miles from the past, I know who I am from who I have always been.
